En me promenant sur Saint Laurent, j’ai vu un pied en caoutchouc dans la vitrine d’un magasin d’antiquité.  Alors que je l’achetais, l’homme m’a demandé ce que j’allais faire avec ce pied.  Je lui ai répondu:  « Ah! Ça c’est un secret! »  C’était l’époque où plusieurs pieds sectionnés avaient été trouvé sur les plages de la Colombie-Britannique.

While walking on Saint Laurent boulevard, I saw a rubber foot in the store front window of an antique shop.  When I bought it the man asked me what I was going to do with this foot.  I answered:  « Ah! That’s a secret. »  It was the time when many detached feet were found on the beaches of British Colombia.

Le moine masqué en singe que j’appelle Normand a-t-il donc été tué par un obus?  Il m’est arrivé dans le passé de mettre de côté Normand, pensant que peut-être j’arrêterais de le photographier. Mais il refait surface et pas toujours dans mes photos. Il peut soudainement apparaître avec son accordéon et jouer des mélodies en se promenant parmi les gens. 

Has the monk masked as an ape that I call Norman been killed by a canon ball?  It has happened in the past that I put Norman aside, thinking that maybe I would stop photographing him.  But he always resurfaces and not always in my photos.  He can suddenly appear with his accordion and play melodies while strolling among the people.

Sur une pierre au pied de l’arbre était inscrit: Souvenez-vous.  Je me souvins en effet de la journée froide de novembre lorsque nous avions vu pour la première fois cette cavité.

On a stone at the foot of the tree was the inscription: Remember. I remembered the cold november day when we saw for the first time this cavity.

Il est arrivé un phénomène totalement inexplicable dans la photo Torero/Vierge :  Au pied du torero est apparu quelque chose qui n’était pas là durant la prise de vue. Ce détail est très énigmatique: C’est une chose impossible à identifier- or je ne possède rien qui ressemble le moins du monde à cela.

A totally unexplainable phenomenon occured in the photo Torero/Virgin.  At the foot of the torero something appeared that was not there when I took the picture.  This detail is very enigmatic:  It is something impossible to identify, I do’nt own anything that looks even remotely to this.
